The Mission: To help abandoned baby black bears

20% of the proceeds from Max the Bear will be donated to the Kilham Bear center in Lyme, New Hampshire. The funds will be used to care for and shelter abandoned baby black bears until they’re old enough to be released back into the wild.

Kilham Bear Center is a non-profit charity that takes in orphaned baby black bears from all over New England. Some of the bears were orphaned because their mom’s were hit by a car or shot during hunting season. Some are injured and need help. Others were abandoned. Kilham Bear Center shelters and rehabs the baby bears for about a year until they’re old enough to be returned back into the wild. Each bear costs about $2,000 to rehabilitate, and tracking collars cost about $3,500. It takes quite a bit of money to rehab a baby black bear, but it’s worth it!
